A Social Cycling Adventure For All Fitness Levels

Bicycle day tour of Sani Pass and Lesotho
4×4 ride to the top of Sani Pass
Once you reach the top you’ll get to cycle across Lesotho’s vast open highlands. With flexible riding you can hop in / hop out of the support vehicle at any time.
2 Expert guides (1 cycling with you + 1 driving the 4×4 support vehicle)
A dedicated support vehicle for assistance, refreshments, and flexibility.
Mountain bikes & helmets included (unless you would prefer to bring along your own).
Ice-cold refreshments.
Visit a Basotho village and enjoy some shopping at the local curio stores.
Choose between lunch at the Highest Pub in Africa or an authentic local restaurant- or feel free to bring along your own packed lunches. (lunch is not included in the tour price).
Departs at 8:00 AM and returns around 4:00 PM.

Lunch Options on the Tour

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, we offer several lunch options during our tour. Please review each option below and select your preference when making your booking. Your choice is needed for us to make the necessary arrangements in advance.

Kindly note that The Highest Pub in Africa charges an entrance fee of R200 per adult and R100 per child under 12. This fee is not included in our tour price, as visits to the pub are subject to availability. Should your tour include a stop at the Highest Pub, the entrance fee will be payable on the day. This fee is however redeemable at the restaurant and bar and will be deducted from your bill.

OPTION 1: Lunch at The Highest Pub in Africa

Due to the lodges limited capacity, The Highest Pub in Africa are only able to welcome guests with prior reservations. Kindly note that the pub has a maximum capacity of 40 guests per day so although we do our best to secure reservations in advance, availability cannot always be guaranteed.

OPTION 2: Lunch at a Local Basotho Restaurant

Pause your adventure at a local Basotho restaurant where you’ll get to watch everyday life unfold. Enjoy simple yet hearty meals from toasted sandwiches and burgers to traditional homemade stews paired with Lesotho’s beloved local beer. It’s the perfect way to refuel while soaking in the rhythm of mountain life.

Price Range: R75 – R150

OPTION 3: Bring Your Own Picnic Lunch

For those who prefer, you are welcome to bring your own snacks / packed lunches to enjoy amidst Lesotho’s wild landscapes. Our guides will help find the perfect scenic spot to stop and enjoy a bite to eat. This flexible option lets travellers maximise their time soaking up Lesotho and is great for anyone with special dietary needs.

DEPARTURE/RETURN LOCATION

Our Cycling Day Trip departs from and returns to our office in Underberg which is located next door to the Grind Cafe (view map). 

DEPARTURE/RETURN TIME

Meeting time is 7.00 AM (Please note that for our cycling tours pick ups are not available as we need you to meet us at our office so that we can match you up with the right size bikes and helmets).
Return time is approximately 3.30-4.00 PM.

WHAT TO WEAR

Warmer Months (October – March): Opt for lightweight and comfortable cycling gear, suitable shoes to cycle in, sunscreen, and sunglasses. We also always recommend carrying a warm/windproof jacket, as temperatures may drop suddenly.
Colder Months (April – September): We recommend long-sleeved base layers, a fleece jacket or down vest for insulation, a waterproof/windproof jacket, bib tights with fleece lining if possible, a warm beanie or balaclava, gloves, thermal socks, suitable shoes to cycle in, and sunscreen!

Kindly note that if you join the tour and are denied entry into Lesotho due to not having the required visa or valid passport, you will need to wait at the South African Border Post either until the tours returns, or a transfer at your own expense is available. No refund will be provided.

This tour is fully flexible according to your fitness level however a moderate level of fitness is strongly recommended to get the most out of this experience.
