This overnight journey takes you deep into the heart of Lesotho and guides you to the summit of Thabana Ntlenyana (3,482 m), the highest peak in Southern Africa. Blending rugged landscapes, rich mountain culture, and a challenging high-altitude hike, this experience is for those who want to test themselves and stand on the very roof of the region.
Travel in a 4×4 up the legendary Sani Pass, connect with Basotho communities in remote mountain villages, and overnight at a local lodge before setting out on a full summit attempt the following morning. With expert guiding and full logistical support, this adventure is raw, rewarding, and unforgettable.

Important Info
DEPARTURE/RETURN LOCATION
Our tours typically depart from and return to our office in Underberg – located next door to the Grind Cafe (view map). Alternatively we can pick you up from any of our listed nearby accommodations. If you’re staying within Underberg or Himeville but don’t see your accommodation listed in our pick up menu please contact us and we’ll confirm if a complimentary pick up will be possible.
DEPARTURE/RETURN TIME
Meeting time is 8:00 AM (Please note that departure times may vary if you are being picked up from your accommodation – in this case we will confirm your exact pick up time with you).
We will return at approximately 5.00 PM on day 2.
WHAT TO WEAR
Warmer Months (October – March): Opt for lightweight and comfortable hiking gear, comfortable shoes to hike in, sunscreen, and sunglasses. We also always recommend carrying a warm/windproof jacket, as temperatures may drop suddenly.
Colder Months (April – September): We recommend long-sleeved base layers, a fleece jacket or down vest for insulation, a waterproof/windproof jacket, bib tights with fleece lining if possible, a warm beanie or balaclava, gloves, thermal socks, suitable shoes to hike in, and sunscreen!

Kindly note that if you join the tour and are denied entry into Lesotho due to not having the required visa or valid passport, you will need to wait at the South African Border Post either until the tours returns, or a transfer at your own expense is available. No refund will be provided.
