DAY 1 | Underberg – Afriski

Morning departure from Underberg in a comfortable 4×4
Scenic ascent of the iconic Sani Pass
Visit a traditional Basotho homestead for fresh bread, cultural insights, and a shepherd dance
Guided visit to the historic 100-year-old St James Mission in Mokhotlong
Time to explore the lively trading town of Mokhotlong
Lunch in Mokhotlong
Afternoon arrival at Afriski Mountain Resort
Your guide will assist with check-in before returning to Underberg
Evening at leisure to unwind and enjoy dinner at the resort

DAY 2 | Afriski Ski Day

A full, relaxed day at Afriski Mountain Resort
Skiing on Afriski’s snow-covered slopes (Ski day pass and full equipment included / Ski lessons included for beginners)
Time to enjoy the resort facilities, mountain views, and alpine atmosphere
Dinner and overnight at Afriski

DAY 3 | Afriski – Underberg

Your guide will pick you up from the resort at approximately 10:00
Visit the remote village of Makhapung to meet a local healer and experience traditional Lesotho song and dance
Lunch at the Highest Pub in Africa (subject to availability) Or lunch at a local restaurant if the pub is fully booked
Scenic descent of the Sani Pass
Return to Underberg in the late afternoon (±17:00–18:00)

WHAT TO BRING / WEAR

Warmer Months (October – March):
Lightweight, comfortable active clothing and shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. We also recommend packing a warm jacket, as mountain temperatures can change quickly.
Colder Months (April – September):
Warm layered clothing, weather-appropriate outerwear (especially for snow), closed shoes, and winter accessories such as beanies and scarves.
An extra change of warm, dry clothing, socks, and shoes (especially for snow activities)

Cash and card (some rural areas do not accept cards; South African Rands are accepted in Lesotho. Afriski Resort accepts card payments for meals and activities)

Cancellation Policy

  • 50% cancellation fee applies to cancellations made more than 14 days prior to the tour date.
  • 100% cancellation fee applies to cancellations made within 14 days of the tour date.

Snow & Pass Conditions

Winter conditions in the high mountains can be unpredictable. In the event that snow conditions make it uncertain whether Afriski can be reached, we will offer the following options:

  1. Proceed with the tour as far as safely possible, based on road and weather conditions.
    No refund will be applicable in this case.
  2. Reschedule the tour to a later date, subject to availability.
    No refund will be issued.

If the road through to Afriski is closed by border authorities before the scheduled departure, guests may choose between:

A 90% refund (10% retained for administrative and online booking fees), or

Rescheduling the tour to a later date.

Kindly note Afriski’s cancellation and refund policy below which will apply to the portion of the tour which is paid directly to Afriski for accommodation and skiing / snow activities:

  • Between 47 and 31 days prior to the arrival date, the guest will be charged 30% of the accommodation and skiing activities portion of the cancelled booking value should the booking be cancelled;
  • Between 30 and 14 days prior to the arrival date, the guest will be charged 100% of the accommodation and skiing activities portion of the cancelled booking value should the booking be cancelled;
  • No shows will be charged for in full.
